Disc Dog 101: A Beginner's Clinic Saturday, 2:30pm-4:00pm $15 (prepaid) / $20 (onsite) - Includes 1 approved dog disc Learn the basics of the sport of canine Frisbee® – including basic throwing techniques and basic disc dog training techniques. Learn how to bring out the “drive” in your dog. If your dog loves to chase balls, let’s see if we can transfer that drive to a disc!! We will end the training session with a mini competition for you to practice your new found skills and prizes will be awarded! About Disc Dogs in Southern California Formed in 1997, Disc Dogs in Southern California (D²I.S.C.) is a group of disc dog enthusiasts whose main purpose is to have fun while promoting canine Frisbee® as a great way to keep family pets and their human family members happy, healthy, and in good physical shape. We organize a series of informal clinics throughout the year where our members and prospective members can exchange training ideas and techniques and practice with their dogs in a controlled environment, all while meeting new people and developing new friendships. We also hold several competitions during the year, where teams can test and display their skills in canine freestyle, which is a 1 ½ - 2 minute routine performed to music and canine distance, where teams are given 1 minute to make as many successful catches as they can in designated scoring zones. D2ISC has the distinction of running the major qualifiers for the Western States Region for many of the top disc dog organizations (Ashley Whippet Invitational, Skyhoundz Regional Qualifier, UFO World Cup Major Qualifier, and the U.S. Disc Dog Nationals World Qualifier). The D2ISC Demo Team is non-profit with all of the entertainment fees generated through our performances going right back into running the Disc Dogs in Southern California organization. As a result, we provide hundreds of Southern California residents with the opportunity to come out and enjoy playing with their dogs by participating in our clinics and competitions. Please note that all of our performers are volunteers, who love the disc dog sport and love playing with their high energy, Frisbee® crazed dogs!! We are proud to state that many of our demo team members are State, Regional and World Champions and have been seen on TV, in commercials, in movies and at major sporting events! We perform throughout the year for all types of events from parties and corporate picnics to city functions and charitable events.
